Jaipur Foot
You might remember this entry where I told you that my chum sheridanski was off to India to buy as many artificial legs for as many one-legged people as possible. Loads of you gave money, you lovely people. Anyway, Mick and Julie have posted an update and some photos of the trip.

Thanks again to everyone who donated.

excellent - moving, too.

I've also just contributed to the support costs of the aid worker behind tales_2_tell. Thanks to them, and Mick above, I am able actually do something, and that's important.

That's brilliant. I'm really glad you posted the original thing and so many of us were able to buy people new feet.

It's fantastic, isn't it. It's like, I give a tenner a month to Cancer Research, but if I gave a tenner a month to Jaipur Foot, six people could walk by the end of the year. Terrible to compare causes like that, I know.

Thanks again
Yes, thanks to all who contributed.

We raised 1 Lakh Rupees which is a bit of a magic number in India. Mr Mehta and gang are an incredible bunch, they told me that they pass on 96% of all monies raised to the intended recipients and that admin constitutes only 4% of their turnover. Apparently the average is 72% admin costs for most charities (so Mr Mehta said, no idea how true this is). They don't even have a cup of tea at their board meetings.
